Religious Conflicts are not Always About Religion but Politics

So many people point to past ‘religious’ conflicts and simply say that religion was the cause of the conflict but that is not always true. More often than not ‘religious’ conflicts are conflicts that are political in nature but the religious aspect is conflated. To demonstrate this I found a Muslim Times article looking at the role of politics in current Middle Eastern conflicts. Essentially, conflicts that are seen as ‘religious’ conflicts are in fact political conflicts where politics has poisoned religion. Click here to read the article.
